Fork & Screen

My new favorite movie theater is Fork & Screen.  Located in the Tower Walk shopping center, in Buckhead.  It is an AMC theater with a full service bar and restaurant. 

This theater has been in Atlanta for a while.  It was renovated a year or two ago.  The new set up is beautiful.  The ticket booth is separate from the theater.  The front of the theater is all glass.  The lobby is large, well lit and an open space.  When you enter the building there is a bar to your right.  With bar seats and tables near by. 

When your movie ticket is checked you are given menus.  The greeter will ask you if you have been there before.  If it is your first time, you will be given an overview of the menu, drinks and how to order food.  They will lead you into the theater. 

The seating is theater style with tables and red leather chairs.  The room is well lit so you can find your seat and read your menus.  You pick your own seats.  Each table has a box with a red button, you push the button when you want your waiter.  

There is a variety of food on the menu, including the traditional movie popcorn and candy.  They have a nice assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.  The service is great.  Food and drinks come fast.  The food is excellent.

I love this location.  It makes dinner and a movie a one stop night!  The atmosphere is inviting and fun.  It is a great date spot.  

Open Mic Event

Last week I attended an event at J.R. Crickets restaurant featuring spoken word artist, musicians and singers.  I will be honest, I was not sure what to expect.  J.R. Crickets is known for their great wings and ribs.  I had no idea they did events on certain nights.  I found out they have this particular event every first and third Thursday.  They also have Texas Hold-em poker, Karaoke, and other live music on certain days.

I was impressed with the event on Thursday held by Rhythm of Life Entertainment.  The MC was very entertaining.  He even recited some of his own work.  The performances were great.  Three artists performed separately.  Two played instruments while singing.   The spoken word artists were awesome!  They covered a variety of topics.  Several left us thinking when they got off the stage.  There was a lot of talent in the building.

I love open mic event and live performances.  I am glad I attended this event.  I plan to attend others that Rhythm of Life holds.  The event was well organized and proceeded without long pauses.  There was a mixture of talent and great environment. 

Virginia Highland

  One of Atlanta’s most popular neighborhoods is Virginia Highlands.  It is full of cute boutiques, spas, restaurants and bars.  It is a very charming area that I love to spend time in.

  American Roadhouse is one of my brunch spots in Atlanta.  It is in VH.  Their menu has a nice variety, large portions and tastes great!  The staff is always friendly and it has a warm atmosphere.  I like to eat on their patio during the Spring or Fall.  There is often a wait there, never a long one, but it is worth it!

  Alon’s Bakery has the best pastries!  I love their Raspberry-cheese Danish, Banana nut bread and Carrot apple Muffin.  They also have lunch and dinner items. 

  Doc Chey’s Noodle House has great Chinese food and the best appetizers.  I enjoy eating lunch here.  They have an open kitchen and large patio. 

  Pozole is a Mexican restaurant with a Tequila bar!  They have a lively atmosphere and the food is good.  The drinks are great!  My co-workers and I have been here several times after work and always enjoy ourselves!

  There are several cute boutiques in VH that will have you opening your wallet!  Natural Body spa is there to offer you a great massage or facial.  They also have a store with plenty of goodies.  There are several nice nail shops that do a great job, too!
